The study is qualitative in nature and involves 51 primary and secondary teachers, who shared their views on factors influencing teacher attrition and retention. The participants’ views were gathered through an open-ended questionnaire focusing on factors that seem to influence teacher attrition and retention. The Four Capitals Framework-Human Capital, Social Capital, Structural Capital and Positive Psychological Capital-was used as a lens to understand the multifaceted factors influencing teacher attrition and retention. The findings highlighted several key determinants of teacher retention and attrition: professional development opportunities (human capital), strong collegial relationship and supportive school culture (social capital), administrative and leadership support (structural capital) as well as personal well-being (positive psychological capital).
